Changes to NHS funding criteria for Devon patients
In response to an appeal, North, East and West (NEW) Devon Clinical Care Commissioning Group (CCG) and South Devon and Torbay CCG have changed their eligibility criteria for NHS-funded fertility treatment.
The main changes are to the previous children section which has been updated to state that, to be eligible for funding,
- ‘There should be no living children from the current relationship, and
- At least one partner must have no living children from previous relationships.
This includes biological and legally adopted children and offspring who are adults.’
The policy will be live from 7th January 2019 and will apply to all patients who are registered with a GP practice within either the NEW Devon CCG or South Devon and Torbay CCG locality. The full document can be found here and all criteria must be satisfied in order to be eligible for NHS-funded treatment.
If you previously have not been eligible for funded treatment but feel these changes may allow you access to NHS-funding, please discuss a referral with your GP. If you have already been referred to Fertility Exeter on a self-funded basis, please do contact us to discuss if you could now seek NHS funding for future treatment cycles.
The eligibility criteria for other funding bodies have not been updated but their policies can be found via the following links:
