At Fertility Exeter, we are committed to providing care in a timely fashion to all our patients. In order to do this, we try to ensure that all clinics are full so that patients don’t wait longer than necessary. If a patient doesn’t attend an appointment or if appointments are cancelled with 24 hours or less notice, it is very unlikely that another patient will be able to attend at such short notice, and that clinic slot is wasted, and waiting times increase.
Please note that a missed appointment costs the NHS over £100.
Our commitment to you
Fertility Exeter will ensure that patients are given sufficient notice of appointments in accordance with the RD&E access policy. Wherever possible, a minimum of two weeks’ notice will be given unless an urgent referral has been made or if the patient has consented to being contacted at short notice. If an appointment is to be made at short notice, Fertility Exeter will try, wherever possible, to contact you by phone or email to make sure the appointment is convenient.
What we ask from you
Wherever possible, please give us as much notice as possible if you need to change the date or time of any of your appointments. You can contact us via the reception team on 01392 405051 or by emailing rduh.fertilityexeter@nhs.net
- If you cancel a debrief appointment after IVF treatment at less than 24 hours’ notice, or fail to attend your appointment, another appointment will not be offered. However, your Consultant will write a letter outlining the details of your IVF treatment.
- NHS patients who have completed their IVF treatment but fail to attend their debrief appointment (where scheduled in accordance with the Royal Devon Trust Access Policy) may no longer be eligible for NHS-funded appointments and may be charged for any further appointments.
